When to Throw Out Your Beauty Products?

How can you tell if your beauty products are stillfresh to use? With food, you can tell it is ready for the bin when it rots and smells. With skin care and cosmetics, it’s a little bit harder to determine.

Depending on the product, when it is untouched and unexposed to air, it can last for up to 3 years. But as a general rule, any product especially a natural and organic products will start to loss it’s effectiveness after 1 and 1/2 years or so on the shelves.

Cosmetics are even more sensitive to environmental factors where product deterioration is even more rapid. Bacteria, mold and yeast will start growing immediately from the first time you start using the makeup product.

To help you figure out when all your beauty products are ready for the disposable bin and how to keep your products in tip-top condition for longer use, we go to a few experts with their tips and advice on proper skin care and cosmetic use. We asked 2 beauty consultants – Valarie Elmore (Lushes Beauty Spa Director) and Jodie Horman (Home smart Beauty Editor).

A Behind the Scenes Look at the African Shea Butter

Shea butter is made from the nuts of theKarite tree in Africa. The process of turning raw shea nuts into finished Nilotica shea butter is known as “moo yao” in Langi, the local language. The nuts are cracked open, then roasted to give the butter a nice consistency. Afterwards, the butter is scooped out of the nuts, kneaded to make it more spreadable.

Its high content of essential fatty acids and natural anti-oxidant compounds provide extreme moistursing capabilities as well as cellular restoration making this a very popular ingredient in the cosmetic industry.

Good and all…..but what we may not know is the fascinating, hard labor-intensive process behind extracting this creamy shea butter that women covet in our personal care products.

A Winter Tan With the Help of a Tanning Lotion

Winter is here down under. For those wanting stronger rays for a sun kissed complexion, they’ll either need to take a mid year holiday to the north, or head to a tanning booth and expose yourself to radical skin damage (which we don’t recommend as it hugely increases the risk of skin cancer).

The other more economical option is a tanning lotion.

Tanning lotions have come along way since the grotty orange carrot look. Technology has progressed greatly during the past 20 years in the cosmetics tanning industry and you can now find natural products available that can help nourish your skin while giving it that extra boosts of pigment.

Subtle bronzed skin is a hit no matter what the season is. You can now obtain that gorgeous golden glow in the winter by using safe affordable methods and by following these easy sunless tanning tricks.

Good or Bad to Constantly Change Skin Care Products

When it comes to skin care, I’ve never been one to be loyal to any particular brand or product.

I like to play the field by mixing and matching different brands. If I occasionally find something that works, I may stick around for a little bit longer and give it an extra few months before moving on.

Sometimes, I’ll go through half a bottle of a moisturiser and if I find something else of interest, I’ll start with the new product. The thrill of switching products……Oh how exciting!

You may say I’m a “Cosmetic Skin Care Playgirl”.

So is this constant switching and changing good or bad for my skin?

It is important to look at the ingredients list before purchasing any shampoo or soap products for your new born. Does Investing In Beauty Yield Good or Bad Returns?

Properties, stocks, antiques and collectables are all great investment vehicles for yielding good financial returns.

Similarly, investing in your beauty can yield returns which can lead to so many benefits to your life.

The reality is, we live in a superficial society. We put so much significance to physical beauty and it permeates our culture. Humans respond favorably to pretty and beautiful things.

This society-bias unfairly shapes our opinions of people we barely know, and unfairly discriminates those which are unattractive (especially girls).

You can say ”it’s what’s inside that counts”. TRUE, Looks can only go so far in life, and a killer personality and a clever mind is mighty attractive.

But on the flip side, ” would most guys go up to girls thinking, man, I’ll bet she has good morals and a great personality.”

Beauty isn’t everything, but it helps with getting you further in life, and makes the path a little bit smoother.

Breast Cancer is NOT a Death Sentence

Breast cancer is the most common cancer and cancer related deaths among females in Australia.

Breast cancer generally affects women after the age of 40 with 1 in 11 women being diagnosed before the age of 75. Research and medical intervention have come along way and survival rates are better than ever before.

With the advances in today’s medical world, breast cancer is no longer a death sentence. Successful treatmentis quite high, but early diagnosis is necessary.

Early diagnosis has been a big key at stabilising the mortality rates. Current advice is that women should ‘get to know their breasts’ and find out what’s ‘normal’ for them, rather than checking breasts in a regimented and prescriptive fashion.

Kill The Nasty Flu Virus With a Hot Drink

Winter is fast approaching. This means the flu virus is on its way.

The problem with the flu virus is that it’s highly contagious and travels long and far. A powerful sneeze can cause the virus to travel 30 metres across the room.

When we cough or sneeze, microscopic droplets of water and the virus enter the air. Dry, cold conditions in winter or an air conditioned office dry out the droplets, helping the virus linger in the air. The dry air also dries out nasal passages, which helps the virus stick.

That’s scary. If you are stuck in the office with just one of these flu ridden carriers, you could become easily infected if your immune system is not at full force.

You can never forget someone whom you’ve had a relationship with. The stronger the love, the deeper the wound, the deeper the memories and deeper the pain.

Experts will tell you to forget, move on and let go. Don’t listen to sad songs, don’t look at his/her pictures and don’t hold on to the memories. I’ll tell those experts to jump off a cliff, because that is the only way you can truly forget.

Now I’m in no way suggesting suicide is the answer. So please don’t be jumping off cliffs or bridges.

What I am suggesting is that memories is part of our life experiences whether good or bad, and we should not force ourselves to forget. It is natural for you to still think about this person whom you’ve given and shared so much together.

There are only 3 sure ways I know of that will help with the situation. See if it can work for you.
